Course content:
After an introduction to the history and peculiarities of the Italian publishing market, students will be provided with a practical introduction to the role of translation in the publishing industry and will train in various tasks required by the editorial work.

Teaching Methods:
The first part of the course consists of lectures. The second part, following an introduction to the terminology and concepts of editorial work, consists of guided exercises. The workshop schedule includes participation in the "Incontri magistrali" and CeST seminars. Course attendance is strongly recommended. Those unable to attend regularly must contact the teacher.
Learning Objectives:
1. Students will acquire a knowledge of how the publishing industry is structured and works. 2. Students will acquire a knowledge of the role of translation in modern publishing. 3. Students will be able to distinguish the different phases of processing a text; edit a text according to specific requirements; adapt a text to different editorial styles; correct a draft using a conventional language; use the most advanced tools of word processors; make the most of the resources available on the Web for the needs of the editorial work. 4. Students will be able to evaluate the correctness of an editorial product. 5. Students will master the editorial lexicon. 6. Students will be able to use the skills acquired in a publishing house, in editing a journal or in developing Web contents.
