Course Title: Course content:	The course aims to provide a basic knowledge of the key legal and historical concepts on archival and library sciences. One of the key aims of the course is to provide an overview on the archives and libraries both as places of conservation and use of documents, manuscripts, and books. The course will explain the historical context in which the archives and libraries were established and evolved. It will also explain the regulatory framework which regulates the activity of these institutions.

Learning Objectives:	(Knowledge and understanding) understand and assess the importance of the archives and libraries as places of conservation, and as places for dissemination of documents and texts. (Applying knowledge and understanding) capacity to analyse and link the birth and development of the archives and libraries from places of conservation to places of dissemination in the actual society. (independent judgment) capacity to judge and assess how the archives and libraries are institutions with many roles and specificities. (Communicating skills) learning of a specific vocabulary suitable to analyse the cultural role of the archives and libraries. (learning skills) capacity to understand the different phases of the development of archives and libraries as well as their management.
